Infant Memorials: Compassionate Tributes for Tiny Souls
We understand that the loss of an infant — through stillbirth, neonatal death, or early loss — is a grief unlike any other. We are here to help create a memorial that honours your child with dignity and love.
Stillbirth, neonatal loss, and very early infant bereavement are among the most isolating and misunderstood losses a family can experience. Society has not always known how to acknowledge these deaths, and families have sometimes been made to feel that their grief is less valid because of how short the life was. We want to say clearly: every life matters, every loss is real, and every family deserves a memorial that reflects the love they carry.
We approach infant memorials with the utmost gentleness and sensitivity. There is no minimum life span required for a life to deserve permanent remembrance. We have made memorials for babies born still, for neonates who lived for hours or days, and for infants lost in the early weeks of life — and we approach each one with the same care.
Please take all the time you need before contacting us. When you are ready, we will listen, we will not rush you, and we will help you create something beautiful.
Memorial Options for Infant Loss
Tiny Granite Tablet
Our smallest memorial — a beautifully polished granite tablet as small as 150mm x 100mm — engraved with a name (or simply "Our Baby" if no name was given) and a chosen phrase. These tiny tablets are appropriate for the very smallest grave plots and for shared infant remembrance areas. They are made with the same quality as all our work, in the same premium granite.
Shared Memorial for Shared Plots
Some cemeteries place infants in shared sections or remembrance gardens rather than individual plots. For families in this situation, a small memorial tablet — to be placed in the remembrance garden or kept at home — provides a personal, private focus for grief and memory that the shared space cannot offer.
Stillbirth Memorial Headstone
For stillborn babies buried in a dedicated plot, a full headstone — however small — creates a permanent marker at the graveside. We design these with particular care, choosing imagery and wording that reflects the fullness of the love that surrounded this life, regardless of its duration. A baby born still was a real person, fully loved, and their memorial should reflect that.
Home Memorial Plaque
Not all infant losses result in a burial. For families who have chosen cremation, who experienced miscarriage, or who are not ready for a graveside memorial, a small granite plaque for the home — kept on a shelf, a windowsill, or in a memory box — provides a tangible focus for love and grief in a private space.
Inscription for Infant Memorials
Finding words for an inscription is one of the hardest parts of this process. Many families feel that language is simply inadequate to the enormity of what they have experienced, and that any phrase risks sounding hollow. We understand this completely. Below are some of the phrases that families have found meaningful — offered not as the right answers, but as a starting point. The right words are yours to choose.
"Held for a moment. Loved for a lifetime."
"A tiny life, a vast love."
"You were here. You mattered. You are loved."
"Too precious for this world."
"Forever in our hearts and never forgotten."
"We will carry you always."
"Born sleeping" — used by many stillbirth families
"Our baby. Our love. Our forever."
